There are two cabinet doors, one
on either side of the unit, housing one adjustable shelf
behind each door. Two shelves in the center, above the
drawer, fit additional electronics or media. Bottom
shelf is stationary, the other adjustable to three different
positions. Shelves are 19"w x 15"d. The drawer measures
18"w x 14"d front to back and 5" high, providing plenty
of space for storing remote controls, TV instruction
manuals and other items you'd like to tuck away out
of view. Cabinet doors have clear 3mm tempered glass
for easy viewing. Doors also have magnetic latches so
they stay put when closed helping to keep multi media
dust free. This console has openings in the back of
each door section and an opening in the middle, in the
back of the cabinet, offering access to both shelves
for cord management.

CD cabinets are constructed
of durable Rubberwood and MDF. You might wonder,
what is rubberwood? Rubberwood is a hardwood
from the maple family of woods and has very little tendency
to warp or crack. It has a dense grain character that
is easily controlled in the kiln drying process. It
has very little shrinkage which makes it one of the
more stable of the materials used in furniture making.
It is also eco-friendly. Maple produces sap. The "sap"
produced by the rubberwood is latex and is used to produce
all the latex used in the world. After the useful latex
producing life of the tree is finished (about 26-30
years) the tree is felled and becomes the rubberwood
that is then used for building material, therefore eco-friendly
in the sense that the materials that are used could
have been considered waste. Rubberwood has all the properties
of conventional hardwood, but is more plentiful and
much less expensive. Good for you; good for the environment,
too.
